Jennifer Szluk's Obituary
Jennifer Lynn Johnson Szluk, 51, of Huntersville, North Carolina died August 4, 2021 in Charlotte. She passed away surrounded by her devoted friends after a brief but brave fight against a Glioblastoma brain tumor.
She was born on April 9, 1970 in Youngstown, OH. Jennifer attended Western Reserve High School where she made life-long friends. She began cheerleading in 4th grade and was a standout on her high school squad through her senior year. She achieved Honor Roll along with being on many clubs and committees in her high school, including being voted Best Dancer her senior year. While growing up in Ohio, Jenn enjoyed family ski and camping trips, caring for her pets (including the uninvited mouse chased by the family cat), hanging out with friends and immersing herself in Mexico one summer to learn Spanish.
After high school, Jenn moved to South Carolina and proudly put herself thru college at the University of South Carolina -Go Gamecocks!! In addition to her studies, Jennifer juggled several jobs including being a sought after Aerobics instructor all while maintaining a very active social life and keeping up excellent grades. She majored in business and successfully entered the competitive world of sales where she earned many accolades over the years.
Jenn started her family and settled in Charlotte where she quickly became a devoted mom raising her 2 children, Charlie and Bridget. She would spend hours at the park with them and their friends. They took multiple trips to Disney, Jenn enjoying them just as much as her children. Jennifer loved to laugh and dance. Watching her daughter Bridget dance was one of her greatest joys in life. They also loved to go to musicals together and would see several shows a year.
Jennifer later earned her Masters Degree in Education at University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she was able to combine her passion for children and education into one profession. Most recently Jenn was looking forward to supporting her daughter Bridget as she began her first year in college. Jenn recently reentered the work world as a Relationship Manager with Bank of America where she was excited to help people.
Jennifer is known to many for her encompassing love for her children, witty sense of humor, stubborn determination, loyal friendships, competitive nature, creativity and her sensitive heart.
Survivors include her daughter, Bridget Szluk, her sister, Tracy Johnson and by the father of her children, Christopher Szluk. She was preceded in death by her son Charlie and mother Blanche.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Charlotte on Saturday October 16th at Holbrook Park , 100 Sherwood Dr, Huntersville, NC 28078 from 1-3pm. Friends and family are invited to bring their memories as well as any photos to share as we gather to remember Jennifer's life. We will be listening to some of Jennifer’s favorite music, enjoying some of her favorite foods and, of course, telling our favorite Jennifer stories. There are picnic tables, restrooms, a covered shelter and a playground for little ones at the park but parking is limited so please consider carpooling.
