Jenny Lambert Treece's Obituary
Mrs. Treece, 87, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, February 26, 2018, in Charlotte, N.C.
Lucille was born October. 26, 1930, in Stanly County, N.C., one of six children of Oscar Lambert and Zora Mauney Lambert. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Glen Furr and Fletcher Duane Treece; sisters, Gladys Helms, Hazel Miller and Irene Hathcock; and her son, Stephen James Furr.
Born in the midst of the Great Depression, Lucille often said it left the family virtually untouched, as their small family farm provided them with all they needed. Lucille followed the example of her hard-working parents, supporting her three sons as a single mother by working at the Kayser-Roth hosiery mill and as a popular waitress at Trucker’s Center near the Interstate 85/Highway 29 interchange, both in Concord. She was a woman ahead of her time, able to purchase — and ultimately pay off — her own home on Academy Avenue in Concord.
In her later years, she was a familiar face at Concord’s first WalMart store on Highway 29, where she worked as a greeter for more than 20 years and was well known for her warm hugs, infectious smile and impish sense of humor. It is how we will all remember her.
She is survived by her sister, Foy Honeycutt of Concord; brother, Coy Lambert of Locust; sons Ricky Furr (Marion) of Charlotte and Ray Helms (Lori) of Huntersville; and grandchildren Stephen James Furr, Jr., Daniel Furr, Christy Cole (Brett), Bryon Furr (Livia) and Nikolas Ray Helms. She will also be profoundly missed by her granddogs, Alfie, Artemus and Luke.
In lieu of flowers, if your parents are still living, please go see them, hug them, call them and always tell them you love them.
Arrangements will be private, with James Funeral Home of Huntersville serving the family. Condolences may be sent to www.Jamesfuneralhomelkn.com.
