Jerry Drake's Obituary
Jerry Morris Drake, 84, of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021. He was born on July 4, 1936, in Charlotte, NC to the late Frank and Sara Drake.
Jerry joined the Army and served his country by fighting in the Korean Conflict. Once he was discharged, Jerry worked for Holman Moody Racing Company for 15 years as a mechanic building their race car engines. After leaving Holman Moody Racing Company, he went to work for Carolina Tractor Equipment as the Parts Administrator for 25 years where he retired. He was a member of the Long Creek Masonic Lodge in Charlotte. After retiring, Jerry enjoyed spending time with family, going to Church and watching his favorite football and basketball team, The Carolina TARHEELS.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is predeceased by his brother, Larry Drake.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann; son, Jerry Morris Drake, II (Susan); grandchildren, Sarah, William, Jason (Lisa), and Jordan, three great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Fite.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 11:00 AM at James Funeral Home in Huntersville. The visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, from 6:00-8:00 PM at James Funeral Home. The interment will take place following the funeral at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Davidson, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, 18841 Davidson-Concord Road, Davidson, NC 28036.
