Jimmy Dale Wright's Obituary
Jimmy Dale Wright, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 20, 2018. Jimmy was born on April 13, 1933 in Ranlo, NC and spent his early years in Landis, NC. Jimmy served in the United States Army. He was an over the road driver for Johnson Motor Lines. He was a shop steward for the Teamster Local 71 while driving for Johnson and then served multiple terms as the Secretary/Treasurer for Local 71 along with being a business agent. Jimmy was a staunch supporter and defender of the working men and women, representing them for many years.
Jimmy was a 50-year member of the Charles M. Setzer Masonic Lodge. He was a past Master of the Lodge and a Grand Lecturer (32nd Degree).
Jimmy was the son of the late Albert Frazier Wright and the late Carrie Mae Barbee Wright. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Hindman Wright; brothers, Henry Wright and Carl Wright and sister, Ruth Arrowood.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Betty Hampton Wright along with his three children; Tereasa Owens, Jimmy D. Wright, Jr. (Sharon) and Donna Wall (Rick); three stepsons, Wayne Smith, Bobby Smith and Jimmy Smith (Lisa). Jimmy is also survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org).
