Jimmy Franklin Smith's Obituary
Jimmy Franklin Smith, 67, of Albemarle, passed away on January 31, 2026. He was born in Charlotte on September 30, 1958, the son of the late Jack Franklin Smith and Geneva Poplin Smith. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sisters, Jackie McCracken and Carol Kilgore.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Skip Hulett; nephews and nieces: Crystal Smith; Matthew McCracken and wife Sarah, and their daughter Rylee; Wendy Parker and husband Hank; Justin Alexander and wife Becca; Julie Brown; and Leslie Curtis and husband Preston. He is also survived by, Daphine Pickler and Jean Burris; as well as brothers-in-law, Steve McCracken and Gary Kilgore.
Jimmy was a loving son to devoted parents, a cherished brother, and an adoring uncle. He was always willing to give his time to help others and took great joy in making people happy. Known for his kindness and loving heart, Jimmy deeply loved his family, especially his nephews and nieces, and will be remembered for the warmth and compassion he shared with everyone he met.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, 1:00pm, at James Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00pm prior to the service. The memorial service will be available to watch by livestream.
