Joan MacRorie Blythe's Obituary
Mrs. Joan Blythe, 93, of Huntersville, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Joan was born October 7, 1930 in Basking Ridge, NJ to her parents Thomas Hugh MacRorie and Susan Elizabeth Merrill. After moving to Charlotte, she attended Central High School and later worked as a secretary for York. Joan and her late husband, Tom (Bub), were members at Hopewell Presbyterian Church where she participated in the craft/bazaar group and Happy Knitters, making hundreds of prayer shawls for Levine Dickson Hospice House. She was also a member of a paint club. She and Bub enjoyed growing, harvesting, canning and cooking food from their gardens. Family brought her great joy, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan was a resident at Sunrise on Providence since July 2022 and they became family as well.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Leroy, and their son, Jeff Blythe.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Susan Kidd (Jim) of Charlotte NC; grandchildren Mary Tran (Hai) of Huntersville and Andrew Kidd (Jennifer) of Charlotte; great grandchildren Elizabeth, Caleb, Addison, Cooper, Ashlynn.
She has been such a blessing to family and friends for 93 years and now she is rejoicing with our Lord and Savior. Thanks be to God.
Funeral services will be held at Hopewell Presbyterian Church Friday, November 17 at 2:00pm. Family will have a private burial following the service then will receive friends in the FLC.
