Joan Smith Blair's Obituary
Mrs. Joan “Joanie” Stephanie Smith Blair, 57, of Mooresville, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 while returning home from a family vacation. She is now with our heavenly father, peacefully resting and enjoying eternal life.
Joanie was a native of Ida Grove, Iowa. She graduated high school in Fremont Nebraska, worked for many years in the travel industry and she was known as the “travel agent to the Stars”. She was a member of Antioch Bible Baptist Church in Gladstone, Missouri, and regularly attended the Cove church in Mooresville, North Carolina. She was an avid tennis player; lover of life and family, and a constant giver who provided support and outreach to anyone in need.
Joanie was preceded in death by her father, William Smith, her father in-law George C. Blair and her mother in-law, Ona B. Blair.
Joanie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jeffery Blair; their children Kate, Ryan and Megan; their granddaughter Evelyn Grey; her brother John, many other family members; and the hundreds if not thousands of friends and strangers that Joanie personally touched in her “special way.” She was a unique person who never knew a stranger, loving of all, and a vivacious individual with an infectious laugh. It is comforting to know we will see Joanie again when it is our time to be with the Father in heaven.
A visitation will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 followed by her Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm in the chapel of James Funeral Home of Huntersville, NC. The service will be officiated by the Blair’s family pastor, Pastor Todd Slagle, from Antioch Bible Baptist Church in Gladstone (Kansas City) Missouri. A reception will be held Saturday immediately following at the Blair home in Mooresville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either, Antioch Bible Baptist Church (in support of worldwide missions) located at 800 NE 72nd Street, Gladstone, MO. 64118; or the Cove church (in support of worldwide missions) at 197 Langtree Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.
