Joan Owens Lopez's Obituary
Mrs. Ardis “Joan” (Little) Owens Lopez, age 82, of Stanley, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, May 13, 2021 after a short illness. She was born April 28, 1939 to the late James Marion and Ollie Mae (Griffin) Little.
A native of Marshville, North Carolina, Joan later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina before relocating to Stanley in 2002. She was employed by Southern Bell, BellSouth, and AT&T for 33 years. Joan enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad as well as spending time at her beach house on Oak Island. She was a woman of strong faith and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of West Port Baptist Church in Denver, North Carolina where she was a prayer warrior. Joan was an awesome cook and enjoyed preparing meals for families dealing with sickness or when a loved one passed away.
Mrs. Lopez is survived by her husband Jesus “Jesse” Quintero Lopez, whom she met in Israel; sister Lavina Kelly of Del Rey, Florida; daughters Joan Campbell and husband Robert and dog Herbie, of Oak Island, North Carolina and Tina Kruger and husband Herman of Mooresville, North Carolina; sons Douglas Owens and wife Holly, of Stanley, North Carolina and Grady Owens and wife Leigh, of Gastonia, North Carolina; grandchildren Savannah Owens, Lily Owens, Justin Owens, Brianna Owens, Jackson Owens, Chloe Owens, Jason Kruger and wife Traci, Joshua Kruger and wife Kyra and Justin Kruger and wife Katie; and great grandchildren Jaycob, Jamison, Lola, Loreley, William and Curtis.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Wayne Owens; brothers Jack Little, J.M. Little, and Everett Little; sister Peggy Smith; and step-son Larry Lopez.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at West Port Baptist Church, 2372 Lake Shore Road South, Denver, NC 28037.
