Joan Perls' Obituary
On Thursday, September 28th, 2017, Joan C. Perls left this earth to join the love of her life, her departed husband, Richard Jeffrey Perls.
As a loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her three children, Barbara Perls Rudolph, Debbie Lynn Valva (Tom) and John A. Perls (Nancy) and five grandchildren, Richard Russo, Jason Harris, Nicole Dancisin, Elexis Perls and Hudson Perls.
Joan was born in New York City in 1932, and raised in New Rochelle, New York by her parents, Edith and Herbert Caplain. Joan graduated from Hood College in Fredericksburg, Maryland with a bachelor of arts degree, and worked in the Occupational Therapy Department at Babies Hospital in Manhattan.
After raising their three children, Joan and Richard indulged a shared passion for travel. They later joined the industry, opening Travel Port in Park Ridge NJ, which they ran for many years.
A Celebration of Life service and time for visiting will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Autumn Care, 19530 Mt. Zion Pkwy, Cornelius, NC 28031, in the Community Room, on Saturday, October 7. Mrs. Perls Inurnment service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
