Joe Bost Ranson's Obituary
Joe Bost Ranson of Huntersville, passed away peacefully August 2, 2026 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lynda Ranson, along with many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, Joe Wallace Ranson and Sally Bost Ranson, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Pursley Ranson.
A dedicated Veteran, Joe proudly served his Country for 37 years in the United States Army Reserve.
Following his military retirement, Joe’s love for blue grass music only grew. He was known throughout the southeast as a hard-driving mandoline player who brought joy to countless people through his playing. The musicians he met along the way became treasured lifelong friends.
Beyond his musical talent. Joe found great pleasure in collecting and restoring vintage garden tractors.
Joe’s family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to his caregiving team for their dedication and compassionate support during his illness. A special thank you to Hollie for her exceptional care and friendship over the years.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at James Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Huntersville ARP Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to be made to: Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19920 Bethel Church Road, Cornelius, NC 28031.
