John Leonard Campbell III's Obituary
John Leonard Campbell III, 73, of Charlotte, quietly passed away July 24th, 2023.
John was born in the fall of 1949 on October 1st. He was the blessing of the late Mr. John Jr. and Ruth Dillow Campbell. John was a native of Ashland, KY but settled in the Charlotte, NC area for the latter years of his life. He had an unwavering faith and was an active member of Journey Church with his partner Carol Parker. John worked many years in the financial industry, and he was anticipating his pending retirement from Wells Fargo. He was looking forward to enjoying his much-deserved golden years golfing and reading quietly on his back porch swing that he loved so much. John had a love of music; he would listen to just about anything. He was a father, brother, and dear friend to so many. He leaves behind a void in the lives of those left behind that can only be filled with memories of this sweet smile, kind nature and the love that he gave so freely.
He is survived by his partner in love, Carol Parker. His devoted children, Jerra Jousma and her husband John of Carolina Beach, NC, Marc Campbell and his wife Lisa of Crestline, CA, Julie Murphy and her husband Brian of Ayden, NC, John Broker-Campbell and his wife Kelly of Perkinsville, VT, and Mary Campbell of Renton, WA; and 7 cherished grandchildren; Josh Jousma and his wife Hannah, Victoria Jousma, Jarrett Murphy, Brycen Murphy, Noah Campbell, Olivia Campbell, and Benji Broker Campbell, and his younger siblings Nancy Carol Campbell of Washington, NC and Keith Campbell of Greenviille, MI. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends and acquaintances on Sunday, July 30th from 2 to 3. Funeral Services will directly follow the visitation at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harris Hospice of Charlotte, NC. John will be laid to rest in Ashland, KY at the Ashland Cemetery following a graveside service on Monday, July 31st, 2023, beginning at 2pm.
