John Curles' Obituary
John Muriel Curles, 87, of Cornelius, NC, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, died January 13, 2012 at Olde Knox Commons. He was born on September 22, 1924 in Baltimore, MD to the late John Calvin and Ola McDonald Curles. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He loved strawberries, John Wayne movies, a good book, his friends at the N. Mecklenburg Senior Center, and his library book club. He had fond memories of time spent with his breakfast club friends in Delaware.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Charlotte and cherished son Steve.
He is survived by his son James R. Curles and wife Karen Helms of Cornelius, NC Richard Curles and wife Debra Bogia and their son Caleb of Wilmington, DE; and his son-in-law who he treated as his son, Ralph Gregory Helms of Cornelius; and his beloved canine companion Maddie.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 at Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson. Visitation will follow the service. A service will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE at a later date (contact church for time).
Memorials may be made to the North Mecklenburg Senior Center.
