John Emmet Morley's Obituary
John Emmet Morley, age 77, of Cornelius, died on Sunday, April 29, 2018. He was the son of the late Charles Patrick Morley and Margaret Mary Murray Morley. He was the husband of Joanne Wilfert Morley.
Mr. Morley was born in Youngstown, Ohio and served in the United States Army. He was employed as a Special Agent with the FBI for over 30 years. His most recent assignment was “Special Agent in Charge” of the FBI for the state of NC. Upon retirement from the FBI, John became the Chief Deputy for Sherriff Jim Pendergraph, Mecklenburg County, for five years.
John was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC and he enjoyed running, swimming, reading to the blind and of course his four legged friends.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joanne, three sons, Brian P. Morley of Williamston, MI, Daniel J. Morley and his wife, Melissa of Saranac, MI, Michael J. Morley and his wife, Amy of Highland Ranch, CO, a daughter, Karin Mabrey and her husband, Chris of Memphis, TN and nine grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 3, 2018, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Rd, Huntersville, NC. Inurnment will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens, 11001 Alexanderana Rd, Huntersville, NC with Military Honors. The family will receive friends after the committal at the cemetery.
