John Fielding Herrin, Jr., "Johnny" died Friday, December 29, 2017 at home in Charlotte, NC in the arms of his wife, Stephanie.
He was born August 27, 1949 in Charlotte, NC to the late John Fielding Herrin, Sr. and Elizabeth Morgan.
Johnny was best known for his classic car restorations. His passion for artistry and skillful craftsmanship brought him many awards, friendships and fans. He was a loyal, steadfast and compassionate man. He was pre-deceased by his father, John. Johnny was a lifelong member and twice Past Master of Derita Lodge #715 and he took pride in his many years of devoted work. He was also a devoted member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Huntersville, NC. It was there that he met Stephanie, the love of his life, and there that they married in July 2013.
He is survived by Stephanie; his mother Elizabeth and husband; children, Keith (Bonnie) Herrin, Mimi (Gerald) Tucker, John (Renee) Herrin III, Sean (Cassondra) Ryan, Maryl (Greg) Fleisher. He leaves 5 grandchildren; Courtney, T.J., Tristan, Jonah and Emilia, and great grandson, Jeremiah; his brothers Tony and George Herrin, sisters Susan (Ken) Davidson and Ann (Richard) Honeycutt.
Johnny loved his Creator, his family, his work and devoted friends who supported him throughout his cancer care. John embraced everything life offered with great courage and energy.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, January 4 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Huntersville with visitation following in the parish hall. Burial will be private in the church cemetery prior to the service. James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
