John Thomas Holloway's Obituary
John Thomas Holloway, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on August 24, 2023, after an extremely courageous fight with cancer. His early departure is mourned by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched during his time on this Earth.
Born August 5, 1959, in Charlotte, NC, John was a remarkable individual, his personality, love, and kindness were larger than life. Everyone knew when John Holloway had walked into a room. He was a pillar of strength for his loved ones and a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing him. John graduated from Garinger High School in 1977, and he then attended the University of Alabama before ultimately graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1982.
John is survived by his loving wife, Susan Holloway, and his daughters, Madison Scarborough and husband Garrett Scarborough, Alexandra Holloway, and Gabrielle Holloway. He is also survived by his brother Emil Holloway and wife Cora Lee, David Holloway and wife Louine, and sister Delene Huggins. Also survived by nieces, Susanna, Sara, Melissa, and Laurel, and one nephew Samuel along with two grandchildren, Everett and Eleanor. Throughout his lifetime, John held his family in the highest regard.
He also leaves behind a network of extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will forever cherish his memory. The Kappa Sig Fraternity brothers meant the absolute world to him and were by his side throughout the entirely of his illness.
His family and friends do not weep with sadness because he is gone from our lives, we shed tears of joy for being blessed to have him here on earth as long as we did. If you want to walk the heavenly streets of gold, you gotta know the password. Roll Tide Roll.
A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at James Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at funeral home.
Following the Memorial service the family would like to invite everyone to a reception at NorthStone Country Club, 15801 NorthStone Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
