John Jacob's Obituary
John Jacob was born on November 30, 1953, in Adoor Thatta, Kerala, to the late Kochukoshy Jacob and Ponnamma Jacob.
John was one of seven siblings, brothers Koshy Jacob, Mathew Jacob, Philip Jacob, George Jacob and sisters Mariyamma Jose, and Aleyamma Kurian. In his youth, John excelled as a track and field athlete, demonstrating the exceptional athletic talent that he’s carried throughout his life.
After completing his schooling, John joined the Indian Navy, where he served his country with honor and distinction for 10 years. His time in the Navy instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and work ethic, qualities that continued to guide him in all aspects of his life.
John immigrated to the United States in 1984. In 1985, he married Susan Jacob, and God abundantly blessed them to lead a happily married life for 38 years. Together, they raised their two sons, Jason Jacob and Shawn Jacob, and built a cherished home in Charlotte, North Carolina.
While settling in the United States, John transitioned into the banking sector, where his intelligence, hard work, and consistency propelled him through a successful 32-year career at Wells Fargo. He rose to the position of Vice President, won numerous awards, and earned the respect of his colleagues for his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to excellence.
John's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through both triumphs and challenges. He was an active member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and his local community, known for his generosity and compassion. John loved to sing Christian hymnals, in both English and Malayalam, his native language.
Throughout his life, John was known for his unwavering strength, kindness, and sense of humor. Even when facing challenges with his recent battle with ALS, John's resilience and deepened faith continued to inspire all who knew him with his positive outlook and determination.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Jacob; loving sons, Jason Jacob and Shawn Jacob, along with countless extended family and friends, who will carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and perseverance.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, 11:00 AM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church at the main campus on Harris Blvd. in Charlotte. The interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Charlotte. There will be a repast after the burial back at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
