John Jerry Jacobus' Obituary
John Jerry Jacobus, 86, of Huntersville, NC passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 24, 2023. He was born on September 8, 1936, in Antigo, WI to the late John A. Jacobus and Francis Swoboda.
Jerry was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Marine Corps League. Previously he was a Scoutmaster, a member of Optimist International and various Chambers of Commerce. He was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1956. Jerry was employed by Montgomery Wards holding various managerial positions over a career spanning 25 years. He later worked at C.M. Offray & Sons, the largest manufacturer of ribbon in the world where he ascended to the position of Vice President. In his later years Jerry was self-employed working as a consultant to various economic development authorities, the US Census Bureau, and other interests. He also wrote a book titled, “Welcome Home Veterans” containing stories of over 100 military heroes.
Jerry is survived by his devoted loving wife of 67 years, Norene Jacobus; children, Michele Jacobus of Huntersville, NC, Jeffrey Jacobus (Doreen) of Bangor, PA, Pamela Piwowar of Wyoming, MI, and Brian Jacobus (Linda) of Warwick, NY; grandchildren, Amy DenUyl of Grandville, MI, and Julia Tremé (Steve Favreau) of Kentwood, MI; six great grandchildren; brothers, Gene Jacobus (Judy) of Antigo, WI and Jim Jacobus (Penny) of Rhinelander, WI; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC. The family will receive friends in the narthex from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM followed by the funeral service in the church at 12:00 PM. A military service tribute will follow the funeral service. A memorial service will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in Antigo, WI at a later date.
