John Jordan O'Shea's Obituary
Mr. John Jordan O’Shea, 90, of Huntersville, NC, died Tuesday May 9th, 2017 after a brief illness.
John was born in Buffalo, NY to Margaret and William O’Shea. He was a WWII vet and spent his early years working at Freddie’s Donuts and Paula’s Pies in Buffalo. He worked alongside his parents and future wife at Bel Aircraft in Niagara Falls before enlisting in the US Navy at the tender age of 17. He married Theresa Aube in 1947 and resided in Tonawanda NY for 42 years, where he was employed by New York Telephone company as an engineer. He was a member of St. Amelia Catholic Church in Tonawanda where he was active in the Holy Name Society and the men’s choir. He moved to Kissimmee, Florida in 1997 and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Cloud Hospital. His greatest joys came from spending time with his wife and family, telling stories about his youth and being able to receive the Eucharist.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa, in 2004. John is survived by his children; John J. O’Shea of Mooresville, NC, William P. O’Shea (Maria) of Mt. Holly, NC, Mary Anne O’Shea of Kissimmee, FL, grandchildren; John (Kristie), Julie (David), Michael, Allen, Andrea, Zoe and Brandon, great-grandson John; sister Shirley Preston and brother Robert O’Shea, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 15th at 11am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Huntersville. The family will receive friends at the church at 10 am.
Although flowers are welcome, the family asks for a memorial contribution in John’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, which was a charity that he supported.
