John McCall,'s Obituary
John Loyd “J.L.” McCall, Sr. of the Oakdale Community in Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday, February 19. 2013 with his family by his side. A man of resolute character he valued family beyond measure. In his 80 years he was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In each role he could be counted on to never let you down and never waiver from his core values of honesty, integrity and loyalty. He will be missed greatly by those he has left behind but we all rejoice in the knowledge that he is now in the presence of Jesus and has been reunited with his beloved wife Sarah.
J.L. was a graduate of Paw Creek High School and 30 year Veteran of the Yellow Freight Trucking Systems.
He is survived by two sons, Johnny and Jeff McCall; grandchildren Josh McCall and wife Julie, Scott McCall, Lisa Wright and husband Ryan; great-grandchildren, Ryan “R.C” and Jaxon Wright, Sarah McCall, Benjamin and Lizzy McCall.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013, at 3:00 PM, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Towery officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Memorials can be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1915 Oakdale Road, Charlotte, NC 28216 and/or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 4530 Park Road, Suite 240, Charlotte, NC 28209 and/or the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family is very thankful for the wonderful medical care J.L. received over the many years of struggle with emphysema and the many, many prayers, visits and cards from the kind hearts of family and many friends.
