John E. Russ Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. John E. Russ Jr., age 95, of Cornelius passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025.
John was a native of Harrisburg, PA and moved to NC in 2005 to be closer to family in retirement. He was a member of Davidson United Methodist Church and previously Mt. Calvery United Methodist Church in Harrisburg, PA. John was a very proud USAF veteran. He graduated from John Harris High School and Pennsylvania State University. He retired after a long career at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as Chief Controller. He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Russ Sr. and Constance M. Russ, as well as his sisters Shirley Russ Hearter and Constance Russ Piedi.
John led a life filled with many friends from all over the country. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved to read, exploring his passion for U.S. history, and was an ardent supporter of Penn State throughout his life.
Mr. Russ is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Ann L. Russ, their children Barbara A. Russ of Huntersville, NC, Elizabeth Russ Kreamer (Thomas) of Eustis, FL, John E. Russ III (Kelly) of Cornelius, NC, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21 at Davidson United Methodist Church.
