John R. Smith's Obituary
John Robert Smith, III
A Life Well Lived and Well Loved
With full hearts and fond memories, we share the news that John Robert Smith, III, age 52, of Davidson, North Carolina, passed away on July 22, 2025.
Born February 13, 1973 in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, John lived a life full of laughter, love, and fun. John graduated from Bishop Moore High School and Western Carolina University. He believed in living fully — whether that meant never skipping the opportunity to get Dairy Queen or spending time with family and friends.
John was many things: a father, friend, partner, fanatic of Notre Dame and University of Kentucky, a master of storytelling and conversation, and a generous soul who made everyone feel like family.
He is survived by wife Katie; daughters, Angela and Alex; siblings, Robin, Tracie and Jeff,
all of whom carry his legacy of kindness, humor, and love of family and friends.
A service will be held Thursday, July 31 at 2:30 at Story Hill Church - Davidson, NC. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Feel free to wear colors to celebrate his life. His favorites are blue, green, and gold.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Lake Norman Humane Society or Saint Judes Children's Hospital. Life will be a little quieter without him, but certainly not less full — because of all the love, laughter, and memories he left behind.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
