Ned Sergew
Alton Stewart was a profoundly exemplary Christian who led a hugely consequential life. Our paths first crossed in 2004 during our application to the Hearts & Hammers program, and we immediately became fast friends. His leadership and guidance on our church construction project were truly critical. It was a pleasure to maintain our friendship over the years, joining him on subsequent Hearts & Hammers projects and other activities.
Alton's unwavering commitment to Christ was always evident to all who knew him. He served our Lord fully and inspired so many to follow his footsteps, which embodied the scriptural command that "faith without works is dead."
We his friends at the Holy Trinity Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Charlotte were greatly saddened to learn of his passing, regrettably some six months after the fact. We send our sincere condolences to his children, Kelli, Lee, and Scott. May Alton's soul rest in peace. His works and his legacy will live on for a long time to come. God bless.
