John Vernon Ragan,'s Obituary
John Vernon Ragan, Jr., 84, of Denver, NC passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 18, 1932 in Spartanburg, SC and was the son of the late John Vernon and Maggie Carter Ragan. He was also preceded in death by his son Johnny, one brother and two sisters.
He was a Korean War Veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the Gilead ARP Church in Huntersville where he served as a Deacon, Elder and was the secretary of the treasury. He also was a Mason for more than 50 years. He spent his working years in the banking and financial industry.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kay Wilhelm Ragan of Denver; two sons, Donnie and wife Susan of Charlotte, Rick and wife Tammy of Mooresville; Five daughters, Christy and husband Doug of Denver, Tammy and fiancé Roger of Troutman, Marty and Billy of Huntersville, Lisa and husband Mark of Locust Grove, GA, and Kim and husband Eddie of Matthews; daughter-in-law, Karen of Charlotte; 15 granchildren and 17 great grandchildren. John will be greatly missed by all whose life he touched.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at Gilead ARP Church in Huntersville with Rev. Robert Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
