Johnnie Hendren's Obituary
Mr. Johnnie Clifton Hendren, 77, of Concord, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at Pruitt Town Center, Harrisburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, at Eva Drive Baptist Church, Concord, officiated by the Reverend Keith Navey, with a burial to follow at Roberta Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.
Johnnie was born June 19, 1945, in Iredell County to the late Charles Clifton Hendren and Ruby Baker Hendren. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia Penninger Hendren.
He is survived by his wife Alison Goodrum Hendren, daughter Amy Hendren Shoe (Donald), son Charles Robert Hendren (Julia), grandchildren Cynthia Shoe, Elizabeth Horne, Brian Seward, Jason Shoe, Jonathan Hendren, and his faithful dug, Rusty.
Johnnie was a loving husband, daddy, and pawpaw, who loved being with family and friends. He worked as a warehouse supervisor for many years and then as a security guard. Johnnie was a member of Eva Drive Baptist Church, where he took his job as greeter very seriously. He was a founding member of Sons of the American Legion Squadron 321 in Huntersville. Before his illness, he was an avid motorcycle rider and a faithful fundraiser for the MDA Society. He loved walking on the beach and watching the ocean and people.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Pruitt Town Center. During the past three years, they have treated him as family and loved him as they cared for him.
