Johnnie Veal's Obituary
Johnnie Eugene Veal, beloved husband, father and friend entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, August 9th, 2019.
John was born to Willie Bell Veal in Birmingham, Alabama and spent his youth in Lima, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia where he attended Booker T. Washington High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the United States Coast Guard. John served his country while stationed throughout the east coast and on several tours of the northern Atlantic Ocean. As a Seaman specializing in radio communications, he was a part of several at-sea rescues and maritime security.
Honorably discharged from the Coast Guard after three years of service, he enrolled and subsequently graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts with majors in Physics and Electrical Engineering. He quickly started his technology career in the New England and upstate New York regions, working for major corporations such as RCA and IBM.
With IBM, he was provided the opportunity to move to North Carolina where he was blessed to enter matrimony with Miss Loretta Franklin to whom he was married for thirty five years.
After twenty two years of employment at IBM, John fulfilled his lifelong entrepreneurial dream by founding Veatronics Corporation where, for ten years, he provided engineering and manufacturing services to the private and government sectors. After retiring John spent his time with his wife, laughing, reading, traveling, swimming, gardening and watching football and classic westerns.
John was an active and faithful member of Victory Christian Center Church and served for many years on the Men’s Shelter Outreach Team. Throughout his life, he was actively involved with organizations in the communities in which he was a part of.
Those who remain to carry on his legacy and celebrate his homegoing: his beloved wife, Mrs. Loretta Veal; seven children Karen Veal, John Veal, Kenneth Veal, Teresa (Darren) Knox, Raymond Veal, Eric (Chana) Veal and stepson, D’Andre Franklin; honorary son: Hasan Suyut; three grandchildren Aaron Veal, Kendall Knox, Caleb Franklin and a host of other relatives and friends.
