Johnny Lee Elliott's Obituary
Dr. Elliott, 82, of Cornelius, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
Dr. Elliott is survived by his daughter, Paula Rae Elliott.
Dr. Elliot was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Henderson Elliott, his parents, John Sanford Elliott and Cora Murdoch Elliott, and a sister, Mary Frances Elliot Rives
.
Dr. Elliot earned an Associate Art Degree from Mars Hill College, a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, a Master of Science and Engineering, a Doctor of Philosophy and Engineering all from NC State University and an Executive Management Program degree from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business.
Dr. Elliot retired from the US Navy after 30 years of service with the rank of captain. He was nuclear trained/certified and served as a nuclear power propulsion-engineer ring officer on the USS Long Beach CGN-9 and as a conventional propulsion-engineering officer on the US Essex CVS-9 and Charles F. Adams DDGN-2. Duke Energy Company employed Dr. Elliot as a nuclear engineer during the initial design and construction of Duke‘s nuclear power projects. He was a licensed professional engineer and consulted with commercial and the U.S. government nuclear projects nationwide. In his later professional career, Dr. Elliot was owner/president of J.L. Elliot Associates, Inc., a forensic engineering firm that provided accident reconstruction consulting services to the legal and insurance industries nationwide.
