Joseph Glenn Trifiletti's Obituary
Joseph Glenn Trifiletti, 66, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. A native of South Carolina, Joey lived in North Litchfield Beach prior to recently relocating to Charlotte.
Joey was born in Columbia, SC and grew up in Florence, SC, where he was an Eagle Scout. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Mathematics degree from the University of South Carolina, where he was elected as a member of both Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies. He was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Joey later received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was selected to be a member of the Rho Chi Society.
Joey was a practicing pharmacist for many years at Roper Hospital in Charleston and later in the Grand Strand area of South Carolina. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, bird watching, traveling, living at the beach and most of all spending time with his family. He was a devoted member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
Joey was predeceased by his wife, Martha “Marty” Piepenbring Trifiletti, and his parents Alma Bailey Trifiletti, Dominick Thomas Trifiletti and Laura Lowry Trifiletti. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Trifiletti Johnson (Jed) and stepsons, Richard Louis Hutto (Elizabeth) and Daniel Russell Hutto (Mirm). Joey leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Miller Lee Johnson, Stella Reese Hutto, Kate Alexandra Hutto, Allison Beth Sheldon-Hutto, as well as many other loved ones.
A celebration of Joey’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 14 at Weddington United Methodist Church, 13901 Providence Road, Weddington, NC. There will also be a service of remembrance in Georgetown, SC, on Saturday, September 9 at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 558 Black River Road at 10:00 a.m. The service will be in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
