Joseph Thomas Potuzak, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph “Joe” Thomas Potuzak, Sr, 79, of Cornelius, NC passed away on September 29, 2022. Joe was born February 28, 1943 to the late Charles and Catherine Potuzak in Mineola, Long Island, NY. He attended Saint Aiden’s Catholic School and Saint John’s Preparatory School.
An entrepreneur at heart, Joe worked in various trades before starting two businesses in Long Island, NY. Suffolk Fleet Service was an innovative mobile fleet servicing business and Suffolk Snow Removal was a regional snow plowing business. He served six years in the Army National Guard of New York and was honorably discharged in 1969. He proudly served in the Fighting 69th New York Infantry Regiment and operated the M-99 Armored Recovery Vehicle. He retired to Punta Gorda, Florida and later Cornelius, NC, and went on to host a travel-themed radio talk show, own an ice cream store, and write a book about retirement. He loved his wife, family and country and wanted the very best for them.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Merle Potuzak, son Joe Potuzak, Jr. and wife Michelle of Huntersville, NC, and grandchildren Megan and Michael. He is also survived by his brother Charles Potuzak and his sister Catherine Vanek.
The memorial mass will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at St. Mark Catholic Church Huntersville NC. The Visitation will be at 2 p.m. in the Narthex of the church and Mass at 3 p.m. For those who cannot attend, the church will livestream it from there website at https://www.stmarknc.org/livestream#MassSchedule
