Joyce A. DeStefano's Obituary
Joyce Allen DeStefano, 80, of Charlotte died August 5, 2018 at The Laurels. She was born on May 19, 1938 in Providence, RI to the late Richard and Bertha Allen.
Joyce wore many hats in her lifetime, including legal secretary, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Joyce relished spending time with family and countless friends and neighbors and was always quick with a joke. She was a wonderful hostess who delighted in serving Italian dishes, sweets, baked cheesecake, and so many wonderful meals. She was the first to help out in her former community, when there was anyone in need of good food, companionship, and a hearty laugh. She will be missed dearly by all of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by the father of her children, John DeStefano, her brother Richard and his wife Lou, and her long-time companion Vince DeLuca.
Survivors include her sons, John “Butch” and wife Shari DeStefano of Davidson, David and wife Sarah of Pittsboro, and Rick and wife Renita of Harrisburg, and five grandchildren: Thomas, Christina, Nicole, Kolby, and Mychal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte, 7845 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful employees of The Laurels and Hospice of Charlotte who so lovingly took care of Joyce throughout her last year.
