Joyce Weisent's Obituary
Joyce Wentz Weisent, 80, of Cornelius, passed away peacefully and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on November 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with dementia. She was born on March 17, 1945, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Joe D. Wentz and Edna Kimball Wentz, the youngest of three daughters.
Joyce graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1963 and soon after began her career at the FBI in Charlotte, NC, working in the steno pool. After leaving the FBI some years later, married with two children by that time, she devoted herself to being a stay-at-home Mother - a role she cherished deeply. Once four children were older, she returned to the workforce as part-time school bus driver and later worked full-time at Reeves Brothers in Cornelius. After her mother, Edna retired she took over her role as personal executive assistant for Federal Western District Court Judge, James B. McMillan. Upon the Judge’s retirement, Joyce finished her career working for U.S. Probation in Charlotte, where she was highly respected for her diligence and integrity.
Joyce lived her life marked by kindness, devotion, and service to others. Always on the go she often complimented strangers just to make them smile. She dedicated herself to her family, raising her children and guiding grandchildren with love, wisdom and a ferocious protective flair. Her greatest joy was being “Nina/Nani” to her grandchildren, who will cherish her memory and the traditions she passed down.
