Juanita Hyder's Obituary
Juanita Peek Hyder, age 97, of Huntersville, NC, formerly of Hendersonville, NC, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
Juanita lived most of her life in Henderson County where she and her husband operated Hyder’s Shoe Store for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andy, and her brother, James West.
She is survived by her son, Melvin Hyder and his wife, Sandy; a brother, Russell West and his wife, Libby; grandchildren Adam Hyder
and his wife Emily; Leah Youngblood and her husband, Lee; Kara Goldstein and her husband, Gregg; and many loving family members and friends.
Her six great grandchildren include Carson, Jennings and Macon Hyder, Connor Youngblood and Savanna and Skyler Goldstein.
Juanita loved to travel, and she and Andy made many camping trips across the country. She also made a special trip to Europe with her grandson Adam. An avid reader, she enjoyed learning about new things and places and pursued her hobby of painting for many years.
Juanita was a devoted mother, a loving grandmother and a dedicated friend to many who were fortunate to know her. She could always be counted on to be there when needed and wanted her family to be happy and successful. She leaves a legacy of love and was an amazing woman.
The family extends its gratitude to Jean Fidler, caretaker and friend, The Laurels at Highland Creek and the Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville for the care shown Juanita in her declining years.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, October 9, in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Community Room where a luncheon will be served.
