Judith Goodrum Caldwell's Obituary
Judith Elizabeth Goodrum Caldwell (Judy) died suddenly Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She was born in Cornelius on December 7, 1950 to William Banks and Elizabeth Puckett Goodrum.
Judy was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church having served as a Deacon, Chair and member of the Card Ministry and member of the Library Committee. She had a long career with GM–Chevrolet Division; she had a real estate license; and worked for The Lake Norman Company. Since her retirement, she completed a 200+ hour course for Yoga Training and has continued to enjoy classes at Gotta Yoga Studio and In Motion Fitness. She has also volunteered her time at the Lake Norman Visitor’s Center and was excited to begin volunteering at the new Cain Center for the Arts in Cornelius.
Judy was married to her soulmate, Tommy D. Caldwell for 38 years. They were an unlikely couple because his outfit of choice was shorts and tennis shoes while Judy liked to “dress up”. She loved him with a passion and took extremely good care of him before his death on August 3, 2019. Since his death, she has enjoyed renovating their Lake Norman home. Kayaking, boat rides, writing and reading were some of her favorite hobbies. She had an amazing frog collection which she had enjoyed for many years. F.R.O.G. – “fully rely on God” was her daily inspiration. She had a loving personality which will be missed by her many friends, whom she loved dearly.
Judy is survived by her sister, Carolyn G. Hildreth (Michael); step-son, Trent Caldwell; nephew, Matthew C. Hildreth (Melanie) and their son, Ethan; niece, Kathryn (Katie) Mendez (Greg) and their children, Abby, Danny and Drew; brother-in-law, Steve Caldwell and sister-in-law, Susan Elmore (Erick).
A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Cornelius, NC. Visitation will follow the service. The inurnment will be held at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden, NC at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels, Inc., Metrolina Association for the Blind, Bethel Presbyterian Church or donor’s choice.
