Julia Pouncy's Obituary
Mooresville- Julia Elizabeth "Betty" Davis Pouncy passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She lived a beautiful 94 years. Born on October 23,1926 to James and Julia Davis of Ware Shoals SC, Betty was the oldest of six children. She met her husband, Frank, at Western Electric in Atlanta Georgia, and the two were married six short weeks later. They spent 56 years together until he passed away in 2001. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her three daughters and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Nelle Boone and brothers John and Louis Davis of Greenwood SC, her daughters Elizabeth Fortune (Ken), Meg McConnell (Brad) and Lynn Findley (Bill), her grandchildren Melissa, Sarah, Bradley, Megan, Billy, Clay and Jamey and great grandchildren Ainsley, Caleb, Luke, Neely Kate, Clara Rose, Jaxson, Parker and Alex.
Mrs. Pouncy was a true Southern Lady full of charm and hospitality. She was an excellent cook famous for her red punch, coconut cake and cornbread dressing. She truly captured the hearts of all who knew her, most recently her valued caregivers. She was full of great stories and always ready to share in a laugh or a prayer. Her strong faith carried her through many challenges later in life, where she found contentment despite her limitations. Her optimism and generosity of spirit are things her family aspire to carry forward in her honor.
Mrs. Pouncy was a faithful member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church for many years. Her dedicated service included catering and directing weddings, as well as working with young children. Her memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Lutheran Church 4013 Shamrock Drive in Charlotte on Monday, May 24th at 2pm with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to her beloved St. Thomas.
Burial will be private at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
