Julian Martinez's Obituary
Julian Martinez, 87, of Charlotte, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was born on May 5, 1937, in Humacao, Puerto Rico to the late Thomas and Aqueda Martinez.
Julian was a member of Central Church on Sardis Road in Charlotte, where he enjoyed working with the Men of Acts, performing work around the homes of people in need. Julian worked as a specialty box designer for candy, cologne, and other gift items for 45 years. At 68, he went back to college and earned his associates degree in horticulture. He then worked as a landscaper and handyman for loyal customers until he was 84 years old and finally retired for real.
Julian was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and loved to grill out and have a lot of family and friends join in to feast and celebrate life together.
In addition to his parents, Julian is preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters, and his stepdaughters Abby and Yvette. He is survived by a sister, Virginia, who lives in Puerto Rico, and his wife of 55 years, Eva Martinez; stepson Gustavo Laracuente, with wife, Nicole, of New York, and grandsons Gabriel, Alex, wife Gina, and grandson Luis; great grandchildren Daniela and Amaya; daughter Nadine Martinez Capps of Charlotte, with her husband, John; grandchildren Jackson, Jackie, and Xavier Valentin, with wife, Kenia; and great grandchildren Armani, Oskar, Israel, and Ezra.
Services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at James Funeral Home in Huntersville. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 9:30-10:00 AM and the funeral will be at 10:00 AM. The interment will follow immediately after the funeral at Northlake Memorial Gardens in Huntersville.
