June Phyllis Schumacher's Obituary
June Phyllis Freedlund Schumacher, 95, of Huntersville died July 3, 2022. She was born on May 31, 1927 in Bloomington, IL to the late Carl and Florence Freedlund.
June was mother, wife, sister, “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling and following her Air Force husband around the United States. Someone asked her occupation, she said “packing and unpacking.” In her later years, June loved reading everything she could get her hands on and kept up with current events. She loved sharing what she read or watched on all the educational channels. June loved talking with new and old friends; she was a “cracker” at trivia and bingo.
Survivors include her children, Jean Schumacher Gilreath and husband Mark of Mt. Holly, NC, Kurt and wife Greta of Southlake, TX, Mark and wife Monty of Gillette, WY and Karl "Michael" and wife Shari of Amarillo, TX; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her husband Ed preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends at Jean's home (837 Botticelli Ct., Mt. Holly, NC) on Sunday, July 10 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
June will be laid to rest with her husband at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at 9 am, August 8, 2022.
