Kathleen Flanigan's Obituary
Huntersville - Kathy was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Anton and Mary (Huthansel) Mittauer, the second of five children. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1972 with a Bachelor’s in education. After relocating to Charlotte, NC in 1996 she returned to school, earning a Bachelor’s in accounting from the University of North Carolina—Charlotte and passing the CPA exam. She enjoyed the challenge of preparing taxes for her clients until her retirement in 2019.
She married Richard Flanigan on June 24, 1972. They raised two children, Christine and Michael. Kathy was a devout Catholic and was active in the prayer group at St. Thomas Aquinas and the Legion of Mary at St. Mark’s, her home parish. In her free time, she enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, Hallmark movies, and cheering on her beloved Gators football team to victory.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Mary, and her father-in-law Richard. She is survived by her husband Richard; children Christine and Michael; mother-in-law Alice; sisters Margo (Mike), Patricia, and Teresa (Robert); brother Joe (Beth); sisters-in-law Kathy (George) and Teresa; and brother-in-law Chris (Pomela), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 23rd at St. Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Rd., Huntersville, NC. Viewing will be 10 a.m. in the narthex of the church and Holy Mass at 11 a.m. The Mass will be live streamed at https://www.stmarknc.org/livestream.
