Kathleen Marie Gerlits Laccinole's Obituary
It is with great sadness to announce Kathleen Marie Laccinole (Gerlits) has passed on to be with our Heavenly Father on May 13th 2025. In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael Dennis Laccinole.
Kathleen was born on January 10th 1953 in Portland, Oregon. She was adopted by Sylvester and Elizabeth Gerlits of Silverton, Oregon. She went to St. Paul's Catholic School followed by Silverton High School.
She married Michael Dennis Laccinole May 11th, 1974 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salem, Oregon. She furthered her education by receiving her B.S. from the University of Oregon in 1982.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a major advocate for her son Gregory. She adored her grandchildren and they gave her the biggest amount of joy especially in these later years. Kathleen was a steadfast woman in her Catholic faith. She was involved in many ministries throughout her life including: perpetual adoration, eucharistic minister to the homebound, meal preparations for funerals, talks and bible studies with women. She spent many years going to Mount Angel Abbey for retreats as a vivacious Benedictine oblate. She made friendships over the years and truly invested, listened and prayed with all of them.
She gave God the glory of all the blessings in her life.
She is survived by her son Christopher, her son Gregory, her daughter Kelly (Caleb Hudspeth); and her 6 grandchildren: Chase Laccinole, Cosette Hudspeth, Arthur Hudspeth, Torin Hudspeth, Oliver Hudspeth and Dorothy Hudspeth.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be to Mount Angel Abbey, 1 Abbey Drive, Saint Benedict, OR 97373.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025. A Memorial Mass will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church,1400 Suther Rd, Charlotte, NC 28213. Committal services will follow at NorthLake Memorial Gardens.
