Kathryn Davis' Obituary
Kathryn Lynn Trainor Davis, 58, passed away September 25, 2015, from lung cancer in Charlotte, NC.
Kay was born July 10, 1957 in Douglas Georgia. She was a proud graduate of Shelby High School, NC and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she was a member of the elite Phillips-Hawkins Society.
She was multitalented and had an engaging personality that led her to excel as a flight attendant for Piedmont and US Airways.
It was that engaging personality that captivated her husband of 22 years Scott Davis, a Commander in the Navy, when first he met her on a flight. It didn’t take long for them to be married at the Myers Park Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC.
As a flight attendant and married to a Naval Officer she moved several times due to his and her duty assignments. She was quick to make friends in Arlington, Virginia, Northport, Long Island, before moving back to Charlotte.
Kay was a beautiful person with a beautiful heart. Her life gave testimony to “the way to heaven is paved with good intentions and good deeds.” She was generous and giving of her love; Miss Kay, Aunt Kay, and Kay Bird had a vast number in her extended family.
Kay was an avid animal lover, and the love was mutual. It was not uncommon to see her outside talking to foxes, raccoons, squirrels, birds and deer that gathered near to her. She rescued numerous cats and dogs, many of these orphans found a home with Kay. Her pets were a large and important part of her life.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, her extended family and her cats and dog.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Great Dane Rescue of the Carolinas, 10425 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078.
There will be a Celebration of her life on Thursday October 1st from 6-8 PM at the James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC.
Kay will be interned at the Arlington National Cemetery, at a future date.
