Kelley Blankenship's Obituary
Kelley Anne Blankenship, 53, of Charlotte N.C, entered Christ's glorious Kingdom on January 21, 2024. She was born in Charlotte on February 27, 1970. During her childhood and youth, she was an active member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and Paw Creek Presbyterian Church. Kelley was a 1988 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School where she was a cheerleader, class officer, and on the Homecoming Court. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Western Carolina University where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority and earned a masters degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina-Columbia.
Kelley had a true passion and talent for helping others, especially those in need. This passion lead her to a 26 year career with Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services, working in various departments, her favorites being adoption and foster care, where she retired a few years ago. She was a devoted daughter and caregiver to her parents, a wonderful sister, the most amazing aunt, a loving cousin and a loyal friend to her friends.
Kelley's happy place was the beach. She loved the ocean, the warm sunshine, the feel of the sand and the peacefulness it offered her. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends, and, most of all, spending time with her family, especially her niece, nephew and foster/goddaughter. But, what we remember is that Kelley had the biggest, most generous heart and an infectious smile.
We, Kelley's family, loved her immensely. There are no words that can express how much we will miss her on earth, but we know we will be reunited with her in heaven. Our love for Kelley will endure forever and ever.
Kelley is survived by her parents, Steele and Barbara Blankenship of Charlotte, NC; sister, Kimberly Levinsohn (Steve) of Fredericksburg, VA; nephew, Andrew Levinsohn; niece, Kendall Levinsohn; and foster/goddaughter, Madison.
A private Christian graveside service was held on January 26, 2024.
James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
