Kenneth Daniel Johnson's Obituary
Kenneth Daniel Johnson, known to many as Pop-Pop, 77, of Cornelius, passed away unexpectedly but
peacefully on May 14, 2017 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House. He was born on November 28, 1939 in Greene County, NC to the late Dan and Callie Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Myrtle Merritt and brother Donnie Johnson.
He served in the Army National Guard. He had an exemplary career, employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He worked out of the Washington D.C. office for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved back to NC, to the Lake Norman area. He enjoyed lake life and all of the activity that goes with it. He found his calling in retirement as a passionate servant at Our Towns Habitat, a local Habitat for Humanity, affiliate. He has been awarded for his dedication and service to fellow man. Ken was a world traveler, voracious reader and lover of facts! He was always quick with a smile and piece of advice. He loved to make others laugh!
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Carolyn Barnes Johnson; daughter, Jamie Christhilf and husband Stuart; siblings, Joyce Von Wert, Ellen Hardy and Geraldine Dunn and 2 grandchildren, Riley and Stuart Christhilf; as well as 13 nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to, Our Towns Habitat (ourtownshabitat.org) or Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr. Huntersville, NC 28078.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM Thursday, May 25 at Davidson United Methodist Church. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center.
