Kenneth Metzger's Obituary
Our beloved father, Kenneth Rex Metzger, 83 of Almond, NC, formerly of Cape Coral, FL went to be with the Lord July 3rd, 2013 at Novant Medical Center in Huntersville, NC. He was born in Gaylord, MI on May 31,1930 and was the 7th of nine children to the late William and Alma Thren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Jean Metzger. His survivors include his son, Brian and wife Suzanne of Berlin, NJ; daughters, Jill Andreasen and husband Peter of Cape Coral, FL and Heidi Uszenski and husband Ronald of Cornelius, NC; brothers, Martin and Lyle Metzger, sister Edith Smith; grandchildren, Jennifer, Brandy (husband Brandon), Eric, Alexandra, Chelsea, Ron Jr., great-grandson Logan.
Kenneth served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Business owner and worked as an accountant at the Naples-Fort Myers Dog Track until his retirement in 1995. Soon after he and Beverly moved to North Carolina.
He was a loving, devoted, husband, father, brother, and grandfather who enjoyed being together with his children and grandchildren. He loved his home in the mountains, being outdoors, working in his garden and riding his tractor. His hobbies included woodworking, reading, and traveling. He was an active member of Grace Mountainside Church in Robbinsville, NC where he served in various roles and committees.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 6th, 2013 in the Chapel of James Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service.
