Kenneth Peter Mikesh's Obituary
Kenneth Peter Mikesh, aged 67 years, of Mooresville, NC, passed away in the early evening of September 23rd, 2019, at home with his family surrounding him in love.
He was born on October 6th, 1951 in Kingston, (Ulster County) New York. Ken graduated from Kingston High School and continued with 2 years of post-secondary education at Ulster County Community College. He later served as a Sergeant with the Engineering Division of the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years, while also attending Officer Training School. Ken’s career encompassed 32 years of dedicated service with UPS, as both a Package Truck and eventually a Feeder Driver. Additionally, he owned and operated a thriving landscaping company in his hometown of Stone Ridge, NY that serviced the surrounding region. During his post-retirement years, Ken returned to work as a courier for his son’s company, Roost Real Estate, of Mooresville, NC, where he was an integral part of the day-to-day business operations. In his pastime, Ken was a proud member of the Victory Lane Corvette Club, his membership therein providing him great joy and many endearing friendships. With a passion for Corvettes since boyhood, Ken also won multiple awards for his vehicles at different venues, including recent achievements of: Best in Class C6, C7 in 2015 and Top 5 in both 2015 and 2016 respectively. With a zest for life, a perfectionist quality to all his work and a characteristic wittiness, Ken lived a vibrant life that brought many a smile to those whose paths he crossed throughout his years. He was greatly loved by his family and friends alike.
Ken is survived by his loving and endlessly devoted wife of 44 years, Linda (McEntee) Mikesh; eldest daughter, Miranda (Mikesh) Maxwell of Port Townsend, WA; son John Mikesh and wife Jennifer of Mooresville, NC; daughter Monica Stopczynski and husband Chris of El Dorado, KS; youngest daughter Kolleen (Mikesh) Organek and husband Casey of Charlotte, NC; 11 beautiful grandchildren, Mikael Switz, Clara and Rose Maxwell; Jonah and Jayne Mikesh; Ethan, Jared, Lydia, Eliza, Liam and Tommy Stopczynski; beloved “granddog”, Zoe; siblings, Joseph Mikesh and wife Penny; Robert Mikesh and wife Mary; James Mikesh and wife Peggy; Timothy Mikesh and wife Patricia; Mary D’Alberto and husband Anthony; Kevin Mikesh; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy (VanEtten) Mikesh; in-laws, John and Ingeborg (Baur) McEntee; and son Adam Mikesh.
A service in celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Sunday, September 29th, 2019, beginning at noon at: James Funeral Home & Northlake Memorial Gardens, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28070.
