Kenneth Springer's Obituary
Kenneth Lee Springer, 69 of Huntersville, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2025 surrounded by his family, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 2nd, 1955 in Evanston, Illinois to William H. Springer and the late Jane R. Springer.
Ken completed his bachelor’s degree from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M (formerly East Texas State University) before going on to work for 39 successful years in finance. It was while working at AT&T Network Systems that he met his wife, Ellen, in 1985.
The simple pleasures in life brought Ken great joy. Any day that he could, rain or shine, Ken was on the golf course enjoying a round, and he also looked forward to his yearly golf trips with loyal friends from his college days. When he wasn’t on the course, he could be found at his puzzle table, the bowling alley, captaining a boat on Lake Norman, or a local brewery. But his greatest joys in life were his girls; three wonderful daughters and his beautiful wife, Ellen. Many of his days were spent at home with his girls, enjoying family dinners, drinking a cold beer, and sitting by the firepit. When the Springer family wasn’t enjoying time at home, it was Ken’s love of family vacations that sent them off on many adventures. Some of his favorite and frequented destinations include Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; Naples, Florida; and Sorrento, Italy, where many cherished family memories were made.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Ellen (Leonard) Springer of 35 years; daughters, Alyssa and husband Matthew Larson, Emily and husband Jonathan Yavorsky, Molly and husband Daniel Gregory; grandson, Braden Kenneth Yavorsky; father, William H. Springer and stepmother, Gayle Springer; brothers, Gary (Jessie) and David (Karin); stepsiblings Jason (Melissa) Barth and Jennifer (Richard Quigley) Barth.
