Laura "Polly" Henderson's Obituary
Laura Beatrice (Polly) Wilson Henderson, 90 years old,of Huntersville, North Carolina passed away at home on April 20, 2018. Polly was born in Huntersville to the late Adrian Hugh and Vennie Brown Wilson. She graduated from Long Creek High School. She was a lifetime member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Wayland Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed spending time on outings with Trinity United Methodist Church, as well as traveling to visit with family and friends.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always encouraging her children and grandchildren to be the best they can be and to have God in their lives.
Mrs. Henderson retired from Rexam Corporation in Pineville, NC. She worked for many years at Wilson Sausage Co. in Huntersville, a family owned business. She and her husband also sold her delicious homemade breads, cakes, pies, and soups, as well as homegrown garden produce and flowers at the Mecklenburg County Farmers Market for many years. She was a wonderful cook and her family and friends always looked forward to enjoying whatever she had been making. For years their home smelled of warm, homemade yeast rolls and fresh homemade pound cakes.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert O. Henderson as well as two of her grandsons, Matthew Henderson and Justin Hilton. She is survived by her son, Robert Michael Henderson and wife, Penni Johnson Henderson; son, William Hugh Henderson and wife, Cathy Lawing Henderson; and daughter Lisa Henderson Hilton and husband Alan. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Chris Henderson and wife, Becky, Josh Henderson and wife, Laquet, Daniel Henderson and wife, Dejah, James Henderson and wife, Tina, Jeremy Henderson, Aubrey Kennedy and husband, Walt, Laura Seagle and husband, Jake, Katie Henderson, and Jason Hilton and wife, Philomena. She is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren: Abigail, Rachele, Johanna, Elizabeth, Catherine, Anna Rose, Emily, Isabel, Liz, Bella, Victoria, Sean, Christopher, Quinn, Lilly, Ben, Katelyn, Ava, Alexus, Cannon, Vivian, Trevor and Aubrey; also, two great-great granddaughters, Camellia and Skyla. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service honoring Mrs. Henderson will be held at Hopewell Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 27 at 1:00 PM officiated by Rev. Allan Purtill. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow in the Family Life Center.
