Lavina M. Lile's Obituary
Lavina Marie (Vigil) Lile, 84, of Kannapolis, NC passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 from Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on January 24, 1939 in Greeley, Colorado to the late Adelaida and John Rudolph Vigil.
Lavina “Vi” grew up in Greeley, Colorado and graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1957. She enjoyed participating in concert and marching band and was the editor of her yearbook during her senior year. Lavina was also an active member of the Evangelical Free Church in Greeley. She and her sister Shirley moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from high school to work for the F.B.I. Lavina married James Elton Lile in 1961 and was a loving wife and loving and devoted mother to her two daughters and son. Over the years she enjoyed being an active member of the FBI Wives’ Club, volunteering at her children’s schools and at Fairfax Hospital. She was employed at Fairfax Hospital in the Marketing and PR Department and as the Executive Assistant for the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry. She retired in 2002 and moved to Huntersville, NC to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Over the years Lavina enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family and she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lavina attended Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC and Davidson United Methodist Church in Davidson, NC. She enjoyed attending Bible studies, services, and social activities while attending those churches. She also enjoyed volunteering for various events at church and in the community.
In addition to her parents, Lavina is preceded in death by her sisters Rosemary Kyle, Ella Jelinek, Lillian Gay, Irene Odenbaugh, Shirley Legg, Ella Agnes Vigil and her brother Rudolph Vigil. She is also preceded in death by her former husband James E. Lile and son-in-law J. Bruce Ricketts. She is survived by her daughters Jamie Ricketts Jones (Tim) of Erie, CO and Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Richardson (Jay) of Huntersville, NC and son, Christopher “Chris” Taylor Lile of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Scott Ricketts, Casey and Caitlyn Richardson and Nathan and Kianna Lile; sisters Jane Duryea (Bob) of Fairfax, VA and Jan Lytle of Des Moines, IA and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held privately with family members at a later date.
