Lee Vander Thompson Sr.'s Obituary
Lee Vander Thompson, Sr., 93, of Cornelius, formerly Goldsboro, completed his journey home on Monday, April 20, 2020 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Vander was born in Wayne County on October 4, 1926 to the late James and Margie Carter Thompson. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. For over 30 years, Vander was a valued employee of Hevi-Duty Electric in Goldsboro. He was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Vander had a wonderful sense of humor and never took himself too seriously. He was a good friend, a great father and had a generous heart. Vander loved fishing, playing music but most of all his family.
A private service for the family will be held at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Bill Rose officiating.
Vander is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Thompson Bass and husband Robert; son, Lee Vander Thompson Jr. and wife Rebecca; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the constant support of the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group at The First Church in Goldsboro. Your prayers, cards, and phone calls were always very much appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Vander’s memory to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
