Lester Therrell's Obituary
Lester Gorman Therrell, 53, of Charlotte went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 22, 2013 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House. He was born in San Diego, CA on May 19, 1960 to the late Milton Parks Therrell, Sr. and Anna Lewis Therrell. He graduated from Harding High School in 1978. He worked at Duke Energy for 32 years.
One great passion of Lester's life was basketball. He loved watching the Carolina Tarheels and playing basketball for at least 20 years. He coached his sons in basketball from 1992 to 2005 for the Coul-Oak Basketball League. He was a mentor and role model to many boys and a couple of girls. He's still called "Coach" by many of them today.
Survivors include his wife Denise Brown Therrell; sons, Justin and fiancé Stephanie West of Charlotte and Donnie Therrell of Charlotte; sister Wava Wright and husband Russ Jacksonville, FL and brother Buddy Therrell and wife Cathie of Cornelius as well as several nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Saturday, December 28 at Christ United Methodist Church in Charlotte with Rev. James Humphries officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the memorial service.
