Lewis Vellia's Obituary
Lewis Francis Vellia, 73, of Denver, died March 9, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 3, 1950 to the late Harold and Viola Vellia.
Lew grew up in Brooklyn and moved to Long Island when he was in grade school. He married Patricia in 1971 and moved to Shirley. They lived in the house they built for over thirty years. They raised five incredible, kind, loving, and independent children. Lew reitred from Local 707 in 2004, and moved to North Carolina to live closer to family. Lew lived a simple life and his family was most important to him. He loved having a pool and taught all his grandchildren how to swim. He cherished his time with his family. He loved his wife wholeheartly and he would do anything for her. He loved to surprise her with all the things that made her happy.
Survivors include his wife Patricia; sons, Lewis and wife Christine of Cornelius and Patrick of Minneapolis, MN; daughters, Gina Hille and husband Charles of Lincolnton, Tara Costenoble and husband Stephen of Cornelius and Maria Richey and husband Donald of Statesville; sisters, Susan and Ellen and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday, March 14 at James Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 pm.
Friday at noon, visitation and rosary at James Funeral Home. Followed by procession to the church for the funeral Mass.
The funeral Mass will be held at 2 PM, Friday, March 15 at St. Mark Catholic Church with burial to follow at Northlake Memorial. The mass will be live-streamed at https://www.stmarknc.org
