Lib Caldwell's Obituary
Elizabeth Tilson Caldwell of Huntersville, N.C., died on April 27, 2013 at her home. She was 87 years old. The daughter of Olin and Grace Tilson, she grew up in Huntersville, the oldest of eleven children. She spent her life working hard and taking care of her family. Mrs. Caldwell was married for almost 60 years to her best friend and the love of her life, Paul S. Caldwell, who died in January, 2004. Together, “Mr. Paul” and “Miss Lib” lived a happy life loving their friends and family and each other.
After caring for her three children as a homemaker, Mrs. Caldwell worked at Western Electric in Charlotte. She created a home filled with love and comfort for her family and friends. She was devoted to her granddaughters and was the best Mamaw in the world. She loved to feed her families…at home and at church. She was famous for her biscuits, chicken and dumplings, and countless other favorites. She loved a garden and found great joy in her flowering yard.
Mrs. Caldwell was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Huntersville. She served the church in many capacities over the years, most notably in the Preschool Department. She was a loving presence in the lives of young children and their families for decades. Her church family has always been a loving and supportive part of her life.
Mrs. Caldwell leaves behind her son, Tommy of Charlotte; daughters, Paula DeLoma and husband Leonard DeLoma of Charlotte and Marsha Turner of Charlotte; grandchildren, Cary Kimpton and husband Sam Kimpton of Durham and Emily Hoppes and husband Ian Hoppes of Raleigh; and siblings, Jean Kerr of Huntersville, Hannah O'Neil of Charlotte, Shirley Hilton of Rock Hill, Nancy Edwards of Cornelius, Judy Christopher of Huntersville and C.O.
