Lloyd Burris' Obituary
Lloyd Alfred Burris, 86, of Charlotte died December 18, 2015. He was born on November 8, 1929 in Charlotte to Preston Burris and Leila Burris. He went to school at Nevin Elementary and Derita. He married his wife Virginia Burris of 64 years at age 19. He worked as a truck driver for 32 years at Carolina Freight.
He was a devoted husband and father to his son and grandchildren.
He served as a deacon and minister for over 26 years. He used his musical talents on the mandolin, guitar and harmonica to bless all ages. He served Gloryland Baptist Church and was an ongoing member of Hunter Acres Baptist Church at his death. He was a man who loved people, loved to preach, and win souls for his Lord. His passion was helping those in need and caring for others. He opened a food ministry through 2nd Harvest Food Bank and was dedicated to feeding the hungry for over 15 years. He leaves behind a daughter, April Moseley and grandchildren Joshua, Cierra and Amira Burris.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, December 22 at Hunter Acres Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
